From two aesthetic sensibilities: Japanese and Nordic
KURA COMMON is a lifestyle brand launched by Tokyo-based ko design concept. Drawing inspiration from the tranquility and elegance of Scandinavian design, and respecting Japan's advanced technology and materials, the brand creates tools that complement everyday life. Cherishing the aesthetic sense of what is in the hand, the brand continues to create products that quietly complement everyday life.

Design concept: "Values and Philosophy"
KURA COMMON is inspired by the traditional Japanese "kura" (storehouse). A storehouse is a space carefully constructed to protect and pass on precious possessions for generations to come. By inheriting this spirit and combining it with the concept of "common" (shared or common), we propose "beautiful tools for daily life that everyone can use comfortably and together."
It all started during the staff meal time at KOZLIFE, the online shop we run. The series was born from a comment from a staff member: "It would be nice to have plates like these." The tableware, with its simple design and focus on colors that make food look beautiful, matches any cuisine, be it Japanese, Western, or Chinese, and is suitable for a wide range of uses, from everyday use to entertaining guests. The product names, ENA and KOBI, are named after the towns in Gifu Prefecture where they are produced.
From now on, we will not only offer tableware, but will also develop as a lifestyle brand that enriches people's lives, centered on the "JAPANDI" style, which combines the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship with the simple aesthetics of Scandinavia.

Manufacturing Process and Materials
Because it's something we use every day, we want it to last a long time. With that in mind, we work with a century-old pottery manufacturer to create high-quality tableware. We use carefully selected, safe ingredients (free of lead and cadmium) and fire the pieces at a maximum temperature of 1320°C for 22 hours, burning off as many impurities as possible from the clay, resulting in a highly durable piece. Furthermore, thanks to long-term improvements to the glaze, the piece has a matte texture, but the metal marks are less noticeable.

Reason for deciding to work with
KURA COMMON

KURA COMMON began after the launch of our own brand, STIIK, when we realized that there were no tableware options that paired well with chopsticks. We searched for pieces that would reflect STIIK’s concept of “chopsticks like cutlery” and also blend naturally with Scandinavian interiors, but we could not find the ideal tableware to offer through KOZLIFE.
The tableware of the Danish ceramic brand KAHLER, which we represented at the time, was beautiful, but in the Japanese market it was often seen as too heavy and expensive. To reach more customers, we recognized the need to strike the right balance between design and price.
As a result, we decided to produce domestically and create tableware that is simple, showcases food beautifully, and can be used across a wide range of occasions—from everyday meals to entertaining guests. This is how KURA COMMON was born. Today, while still focusing on tableware, it is expanding into a Japandi-style lifestyle brand that incorporates the design essences of both Japan and Scandinavia.
