Morten Kaaber

In everyday life

Natural choice

With a background in interior design, he founded Paper Collective with the desire to position art prints as a natural choice for everyday life, like furniture or lighting.

By leveraging his experience working at a startup and creating a space where he can collaborate directly with talented creators, he is constantly bringing new inspiration to his team.

Design concept: "Values and Philosophy"

Paper Collective was founded in Copenhagen in 2012 with the desire to create a "playground" for art. They produce original art prints and products that embody the creativity of artists, photographers, illustrators, and designers from a variety of backgrounds, and by delivering these to art lovers around the world, they are expanding the art-centered community.

Since its founding, Paper Collective has placed great importance on "contributing to society through art." The company donates a portion of its sales to charitable causes and projects around the world, and in 2020, it partnered with the Human Practice Foundation to build a primary school in Taplejung, Nepal. The school, equipped with a library and computer room, provides educational opportunities to over 400 children in one of the world's poorest regions. Furthermore, since 2021, the company has further focused on "reuse" and "recycling," and through the "Waste to Value Project" supported by WWF, it is working to reduce plastic pollution in Kenya and create jobs for local women and children.

Art prints, which combine originality, timeless beauty, and a story, are loved by many people as art that is close to everyday life.

Paper Collective will continue to bring value to both art and society, spreading color and inspiration to the lives of people around the world.

Manufacturing Process and Materials

Paper Collective creates art that is focused on design and quality while embracing environmental responsibility.

All of our paper and wood is FSC-certified and sourced in Europe, and we maintain high environmental standards across our operations through the reuse of packaging materials, the use of paper tape, and thorough recycling initiatives.

We also focus on local production, with all our paper products produced in Denmark and other products produced in Europe. Our art prints are individually made to order in our own workshop, located two hours south of Copenhagen.

The print is produced using a 12-color fine art printing technique called giclee printing on 260g acid-free matte paper, ensuring rich colors and textures that last for a long time.

Reason for deciding to work with

While running our own online store, KOZLIFE, we realized that there were no chopsticks with a design that would feel familiar to Japanese people while also pairing seamlessly with tableware and interior design from Scandinavian brands.

In particular, when photographing tableware and food, we found that although chopsticks are an essential part of the Japanese dining scene, they often stood out awkwardly against Scandinavian-designed pieces. That sense of incongruity stayed with us.

So we decided to create our own ideal chopsticks. This is how STIIK was born. Simple and beautiful chopsticks that blend naturally with Scandinavian tableware, bringing new harmony to the everyday dining table.
