Bringing "Intellect and Comfort" to the Workplace: The Residential Shift in Offices and the Art of Styling

In "contract spaces"—such as offices, hotels, and commercial facilities—if art serves as a "language" that conveys a brand's concept, then objets d'art act as elements that regulate the space's "breathing."

This article is part of a series featuring COOEE Design, an interior brand from Sweden. We explore how the brand’s silky textures and sculptural forms can infuse modern professional spaces with a sense of serene sophistication.

One of the most important keywords in office design in recent years is "residential design."

While offices in the past were spaces focused on functionality, today's workplaces are expected to have the quality of a "third place" where you can relax like at home, but at the same time stimulate creativity like a cafe.

In this article, the fourth in the series, we will explain how COOEE Design can be incorporated into office lounges, conference rooms, and high-end residential spaces to achieve both "well-being" and "intelligence."

1. The trend of residential design transforming workplace comfort

An office should be more than just a place to sit and work; it should be a space that fosters team dialogue, deepens individual thought, and allows inspiration to flow freely.

This is where COOEE Design plays a pivotal role: elevating the environment into a space that is both home-like and professionally sophisticated.

By introducing COOEE’s organic forms and silky-matte textures to the sterile nature of standard office furniture, the visual tension is softened, fostering a sense of psychological safety among workers. This marks the first step toward creating a "well-being-oriented space" that stimulates the sensibilities of those who work there.

2. Evoking "Intellect" in Meeting Rooms and Bookshelves: Arrangement as Sculpture

When it comes to styling an office space, it's easy to fall into the trap of just adding some houseplants and calling it a day. However, maintaining plants can be an unexpected burden on office operations.

What I would like to propose is to use COOEE as a "Sculpture".

As a "bookend" for a bookshelf

Place COOEE vases and objets d'art in office library areas or on open shelves in meeting rooms—either to serve as bookends or simply as decorative accents. Since these vases stand alone as complete works of art, they lend an air of intellectual sophistication to the space even without flowers.

A "focal point" on the trolley

Simply placing one or two small vases on a mobile trolley or coffee counter elevates a functional fixture into a display piece. The interplay between the rigid textures of the trolley—whether metal or resin—and the ceramic finish of COOEE pieces creates a pleasant rhythm within the space.

3. "Subtractive" Styling in High-End Residences

In residential projects, the perspective of "how the space is curated" is essential to creating a luxury environment. COOEE’s role is to minimize the visual clutter of daily life while reflecting the resident's personal taste.

A color palette that creates a sense of serenity

In model homes and high-end residences, the color of the base is selected to pick up the tones of the wallpaper and furniture. For instance, in a gray-toned interior, pairing it with COOEE’s "Ash" or "Sand" creates a perfectly cohesive look.

A form that lives as art

On spacious living room cabinets or console tables, arrange multiple vases while varying their heights and widths. By intentionally leaving ample open space, the sculptural forms of COOEE pieces stand out, creating a sophisticated, gallery-like living environment.

4. Choosing "Spatial Autonomy" Independent of Plants

In contract spaces, the maintenance of fresh flowers and plants entails the highest costs. However, the defining characteristic of COOEE Design is its beauty—standing on its own as an objet d'art even without any plants inside.

COOEE is the ideal solution for locations where changing water or disposing of withered flowers is physically difficult, such as office reception areas and meeting rooms.

It reduces operational costs and effort without compromising on design quality. This blend of functional beauty is precisely why COOEE is chosen for busy, professional environments.

A workspace that stimulates the senses.

Styling an office or residence is not merely about decoration; it is an act of refining the quality of the space. Incorporating COOEE Design pieces serves as a statement of intent—an expression of faith in the creativity of the people within the space and a commitment to curating the environment.

In the upcoming fifth installment, we will explain the true reasons why COOEE Design is chosen, focusing on the perspectives that operators prioritize most: ESG, sustainability, and return on investment.
